My commuter hell this morning on the Victoria line to Green Park. Passed the enormous taxi queues wondering if I should even look at tube before walking 3 miles but seemed ok… Stand at right part if platform and enter empty carriage

Tube Strike Move1 !

Looks like the Tube strike in London will ensure I get to move for my honour today. I have to be in London today for a long standing series of meetings as part of our recruitment for a new CEO at the S&RA so I have set off an hour early knowing that’s how long it will take to walk from St Pancras to Westminster! All too often I rush around London on the underground not taking any of it in. Hopefully today will be enlightening & interesting. Think positive!

Here we go again… Highly successful athlete assumes everybody loves competition. Why do we go round in circles with this debate. Competition has a place but it’s not for everybody. For some it will put them off sport and PE for life. I play competitive sport and think it can help teach a whole set of values. But I also know some kids hate it (as the Chance to Shine research showed) so instead of saying we need to make them enjoy competition why don’t we find and encourage them to take up a sport or physical activity that inspires them to carry on for the rest if their lives. Let’s give them the physical literacy skills to pick up later in life.

The debate does not need to be polarised as though if you think physical activity is good we are against competition. Like much of life it’s about a good balance…

The ability of AZ to close the Loughborough site despite spending £500m in the town was a major blow locally – but a strategic decision globally. We suffered the consequences of global capitalism with the loss of those 1200 jobs. They have not been properly replaced.

Chuka Umunna MP, Labour’s Shadow Business Secretary, responding to Pfizer’s confirmation that it has approached AstraZeneca with a view to making a takeover offer, said:
“Labour is clear that any potential takeover of AstraZeneca by Pfizer should be judged on three tests: whether it…

A rather Scottish affair in London today as we look forward to the Glasgow Commonwealth Games at The Mansion House as guests of The Lord Mayor of London (not the Boris Mayor!) Good to know the venues are ready and 90% of tickets sold. It’s in good shape and really looking forward to the Baton relay igniting national interest in the same way the Torch relay did for 2012
